When we stood to leave, Robert touched my elbow to help as a gentleman might do, and I still can feel the shiver of delight even as I write this.

32 years ago when our daughter, KIm, was a toddler. Kim took many a lazy afternoon nap there with us.

Guess who's the sweetheart with her?

The four of us, Robert, me, older son Scott and Kim spent many a day at Barton Springs from the late 1970s onward.

In June, 1980 we had a string of 105 degree days and no air conditioning in our house, so we'd take Scott to the springs from ~ 6:30 am to mid-morning and all of us felt cooled for the day. Robert's office was in our house in those days.

In addition to swimming, Scott learned to scavenge for pecans and eat them there!

And we'd swim at the springs first then watch the Zilker musical on several summer evenings through the years.

AND Robert's and my first date wound up at Barton's July 21, 1975. Robert was an architect for the City and we sat on the steps and he explained all the engineering for the by-pass being built then that closed the pool that season. When we stood to leave, Robert touched my elbow to help as a gentleman might do, and I still can feel the shiver of delight even as I write this.
